Isaiah 62 Prayers for Israel: August 2025
“Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.” (Deuteronomy 32:35)
Dear Prayer Partners,
For nearly two years now, we have been praying for a swift and complete victory for Israel in this nation’s seven-front battle against an encircling array of implacable enemies.
I must admit, it was disappointing at times to see the war prolonged for month after month, and I pondered why the Lord did not grant Israel this swift total victory earlier. An even more probative question is whether we were praying rightly—that is, in line with God’s will.
Looking back now, we can thank the Lord that He has allowed Israel time to defeat its most dangerous enemies. The IDF has battered and sidelined Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Assad regime in Syria is gone, and the opportunity may now exist for somewhat friendlier relations with the new rulers of Syria. Meantime, Israel humiliated Iran in only 12 days of direct fighting and set back their nuclear and ballistic missile programs by many years.
As for Hamas, it is significantly weakened to the point that its remaining forces in Gaza may need to fight a civil war with other armed Palestinian clans to keep control of the coastal Strip.
Hamas managed to inflict painful losses on Israel in its surprise attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. But keeping their plans so secret ended up working against them, as Hezbollah and Iran were not prepared to immediately join the fight with full force, allowing Israel time to mobilize its reserves and evacuate civilians away from its northern and southern borders. Further, the stubbornness and cruelty of Hamas in refusing to return all the hostages over these many long months has also worked against them, as it has given Israel the time needed to deal heavy blows upon its most dangerous enemies in succession.
Perhaps our most accurate prayer over the course of this conflict has been asking the Lord to give wisdom and strategies to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders on how to defeat their enemies. More details are coming out every day, but it is already clear that they indeed developed incredible strategies to rout these foes in astounding ways. The pager operation in Lebanon! A drone factory operated by Mossad inside Iran! Complete air dominance over Iran, and not one Israeli plane lost. These are legendary feats that could only have happened with help from above!
Watching Netanyahu meet once again with US President Donald Trump in Washington in early July, there is a lesson for us here: always trust the timing of God. It is so much better that Trump is serving his second term as president now, rather than four years ago, as he is well placed at this key moment to help Israel finish the war and consolidate the victory by hopefully expanding the Abraham Accords.
Sometimes we must wait patiently on the Lord, but when the due time comes for His recompense, He hastens the calamity upon His enemies (Deuteronomy 32:35). Surely, we can trust in His timing!
Blessings from Zion!

THE NORTHERN FRONT
Thank the Lord that the ceasefire with Lebanon has held and that Hezbollah did not join in attacking Israel during the recent war with Iran. Pray that Hezbollah will continue to lose military strength and political influence in Lebanese affairs. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move among Christians in Lebanon and the region. Also pray that the new leadership in Syria will protect its Christian, Druze, and Kurdish minorities and decide to live at peace with Israel.
THE SOUTHERN FRONT
Israel’s success in its short but intense war with Iran also renewed hope that a deal can be reached with Hamas to secure the release of the remaining 50 hostages in Gaza, 20 of whom are living plus 30 bodies. Please pray for every last Israeli taken hostage into Gaza to come home to their families. Pray that intense pressure will come on Hamas, even from the Arab world, to surrender all the hostages and to leave Gaza. Also pray that Israeli leaders make the right decisions in the talks over hostages and the future of Gaza. Pray that any Palestinians in Gaza who want to voluntarily leave for another country can do so. Pray for strong support for Israel on Gaza from the Trump administration and other foreign governments. Pray that the current international efforts being led by France to recognize a Palestinian state will come to naught. Pray that more nations will realize this would be a massive diplomatic mistake and oppose this move.
THE IRAN FRONT
After years of Iran’s open threats and relentless drive for nuclear weapons, Israel finally decided to confront the radical clerical regime in Tehran directly. The result was an intense 12-day battle pitting Israel’s far superior air power against Iran’s multiple barrages of ballistic missiles. We are grateful to the Lord that Israel, with American help, was able to inflict severe damage on Iran’s renegade nuclear program and its ballistic missile factories and stockpiles, as well as to eliminate dozens of top Iranian military commanders and nuclear experts. But the Israeli home front also suffered some 40 direct impacts from the daily waves of large missiles with one-ton warheads. This left 31 dead, plus 3,000 wounded, and over 16,000 homeless due to the extensive destruction in urban areas. Please pray for the swift recovery of the injured and for housing to be quickly found for those who lost their homes. Pray that Iran’s nuclear program has been damaged beyond repair, and that its quest for atomic weapons will always come to naught. Pray that Iran will not be able to harm Israel or Jews abroad through terrorist operations. Pray for the Iranian people to successfully arise and replace the cruel ayatollahs with more peaceful, caring, democratic leaders.
THE HOME FRONT
Please pray that Israel will be able to secure a resounding victory over its enemies, recover and rebuild quickly, and actively pursue peace with its other Arab neighbors. Pray that more Israelis will be drawn to faith in God and His Messiah amid the current challenges. Pray for a fresh move of the Holy Spirit in Israel.
