After failing to quickly re-open the Straits of Hormuz to relieve world energy shortages, President Trump suddenly announced he is working on a ceasefire deal with the Iranian regime that would bring the current Mideast war to a close. Both sides are listing their demands ahead of truce talks in Pakistan, and the gaps between them remain large. But with Israel outside the negotiating room, concerns here are growing that the U.S. will agree to a hasty deal that does not meet Israeli security need.
